Well, now, aren't you the creative teacher! When you wrote about using the book Number the Stars with your seventy-year-old woman student, I was intrigued. I had never heard of the book, but immediately I got on the Fairfax County Public Library web site, and lo and behold there it was. The library had seventy or eighty copies of it, so I was even more interested. I put a copy on hold, and I guess it was last Thursday that I picked it up at the branch library near us. Then I found out that it is a winner of the Newbery Medal. I love to read in bed, and that evening I took it to bed; I didn't stop reading until I finished it all. What a wonderful story! Of course it is fiction, but since it is based on historical fact, it was especially interesting. So thanks to you I had an evening of delightful reading. I hope your student is enjoying the book. How marvelous that she is studying English at her age!
Number the Stars、
