英語で「おめでとう！」

先日、クラスの終わり際に高校生の生徒さんが「友達に誕生日カードを書いてるの。すごく大事な友達だから、ちょっと特別なことを書きたいんだよね。英語で何かいい言葉ってありませんか？」と。
聞いてみたら、もうほとんど書けていて、最後にひとつだけ書き加えたいのだそうです。

すぐには意外と思いつかなくて、私が頂いたカードを引っ張り出してきて、一緒に見ました。

生徒さんが一番気に入ったのが "Wishing you a birthday filled with all good things."

他にも　"May years ahead filled with lasting pleasure." とか
"I hope you have a happy day in every way." とか
"You brought great joy into my life when we met in USA, and here so many years later, you are still bringing me great joy. Thank you, thank you, thank you. " とか。。。

そして "You are such a dear friend, and I treaure the closeness we have maintained over the years!!"
という文をみつけた時、なんだか胸がいっぱいになりました。
今日はご無沙汰続きの古い友人に、メールしてみようと思います。
